The Meeting Of Our Lord In The Temple

The Meeting Of Our Lord In The Temple.

Troparion - Tone 1

Rejoice, O Virgin Theotokos, full of grace! From you shone the Sun of Righteousness, Christ our God. Enlightening those who sat in darkness! Rejoice, and be glad, O righteous elder; You accepted in your arms the Redeemer of our souls, Who grants us the Resurrection.

Kontakion - Tone 1

By Your nativity, You did sanctify the Virgin's womb, and did bless Simeon's hands, O Christ God. Now You have come and saved us through love. Grant peace to all Orthodox Christians, O only Lover of man!

Continuing thoughts on the text beneath your blog title.

At first, I saw "I Am The World Created In Tishri" and thought that Tishri was play-doh or something and you were just being humorous.

Later, through you, I learned that Tishri was the Hebrew name of the first month, when the world was created. So, my impression was that you were actually claiming to be the world that was created in Tishri. "Well, okay then" I thought, eager to overlook such idiosyncracies for the sake of ecumenism :)

Now, I am wondering if you have not just, purposely, mixed the vocabulary, and mean it to say that "I AM", or God, created the world in Tishri.

It's taken me about eight months to work through this process. You can tell my brain is getting old, huh?

LOL, no! :-)

The world was created in Nissan, not in Tishri. (Have You read my post on the Ecclesiastical New Year ?). But I am born in September, and the man is called a micro-cosm, so ... (But the Jews think that the world was created in Tishri, though ...)

I'm constantly sad and I feed on tragedies and dramas, and even my joys are sorrowful and trans-figured ... so this particular time of the year, this perpetual autumn, which is the constant movement of my soul in sadness, is something that so completely and perfectly describes my entire life and personality; it's not just a "one-time event". (Tell *THIS* to a Baptist the next time he rubs Your head with "once saved [born anew], always saved"). We have to live out our birth in our lives, otheriwse it's meaningless. [I've had a perfectly happy and joyful life, nothing truly bad has ever happened to me; life came to me on a silver-plate. I'm a spiled little brat; but -like the Buddha-my heart does not delight in these things, (which is not to say that I'm not grateful and indebted over my neck). Melancholy is the fiber of my being, and my soul's sweet, joyful sorrow, and sorrowful joy].

I know what you mean. I was born in November, and for long it was my favorite time of year, though everything was dying.

I enjoyed melancholy as a younger man, strange as that sounds, and though the way was not without danger. Even today, I still like penance, I like the recognition of failure and the sadness that comes with it. Perhaps because it enables me to be happy later on, I don't know.

I think, perhaps, my love of melancholy has faded with having children, and mainly because I am filled with fear that something will happen to them. Perhaos, also, because now I have experienced various tragedies, and don't need to seek melancholy like your tongue probes the empty spot after you lose a tooth. The potential for true sadness is always with me now.
(BTW, your writing in English is excellent.)

Ay ay ay, Lucian. I shall name you St. Jude, patron saint of lost causes... :)

LOL :-) But I'm affraid that I might be closer to resembling the other Jude :-( [And how did St. Jude get to be the Patron St. of lost causes anyway ?].

Good question. I don't know, I'm just blindly obedient to that Roman dictator :)
